Why Retreat with Thrive?

Because life is too short for “someday”, and Thrive is special!

Thrive exists to ignite the forgotten sparkle inside every woman—empowering her to dream big, embrace adventure, and create a life that truly inspires her. Through connection to self, community, and nature, we cultivate uplifting confidence, playfulness, and joy!

Thrive adventures are so much more than a surf experience.

There’s SO much growth in leaning outside your comfort zone and nothing more powerful than a community of wonder women cheering each other on!

This is your time. Your adventure.
Your story to write.

So... Are you ready to
THRIVE??

What surf experience/skill level do I need to have? For this retreat, the required surfing level is "Advanced Beginner to Intermediate". What does that mean? - You must be confident to stay on your board without your feet touching the ground for an entire session. You are able to paddle into your own waves, and are aiming for green waves (no matter the size) with varied success. You should be able to control your board while you paddle out and either duck dive, go over the wave, or "Turtle Roll" your board safely. You might be starting to trim across the face of the wave, make stalls or turns and generate speed, or you might simply be happy to cruise for now.

What level of fitness do I need? You need to be able to spend up to 3 hours away from land. All the breaks we will discover are within half an hour speedboat ride from our departure point. You will be in the water for up to 2 hours, but have the option to paddle back to the boat as often as you like. For safety reasons it is essential that you are confident to swim at least 50m unassisted (no time limit).

How many new friends will be a part of the retreat? 21. Max 12 surfers and 6 cheer squad, plus 3 crew.

Can you cater for my allergies or dietary requirements? We sure can. Please just let us know in the comments section at time of booking, we're able to cater to all dietary requests.

Should I bring my own board or hire one there? If you normally ride a foamy, leave it at home, the local surf school have a range of high quality foamy boards for us to use. If you're riding a hardboard, it's probably worth considering bringing it with you. Board hire is available on the island but specific dimensions may be limited. If you're planning on hiring a hardboard, best get in contact directly asap to discuss options... We'll always have a board for you, but it may not be as perfectly suited as your own board from home. Please note that hardboard hire is an additional cost of $250AUD for the whole 10 days.

What should I wear in the surf? Most people choose to cover up with a layer of thin lycra - You'll be way too hot in a wetsuit or springy. I highly recommend a long sleeve surf suit or rashie, or simply a light coloured, relavitely tight fitting cotton T-shirt to protect from the sun. We'll generally be surfing from around 8-9am into the hottest part of the day. A surf hat is also a fantastic idea along with REEF SAFE zinc or sun barrier cream. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR ZINC/SUNSCREEN IN REEF SAFE! Hot tip: It will be much cheaper with alot more variety to purchase before leaving home. Shopping options can be very limited in the Maldives.

When should I arrive? What if I get delayed? Ideally you will arrive into Malé International Airport before 4pm Thursday 17th April. Our crew will be there to greet you at the arrivals gate and escort you to your speedboat transfer and hotel check in. Please let me know of your flight details as soon as you have them booked. Evening transfer can often be arranged upon request, please ask in advance if required. If your flight happens to be delayed, I'll know! All guests are requested to provide flight details, so we can keep track. Worst case scenario and we can't get a late transfer, you'll need to spend the night in Malé and get the sunrise transfer the following morning. Our crew will guide you through the entire process.

What's the local currency? Technically Maldivian Rufiyaa, but US Dollars is widely accepted and preferred. You may have issues trying to pay with bankcards, especially for small sums, it's a great ideal to take some cash. Either currencies are accepted, USD is generally preferred, ideally you'll have both currencies available.

What type of waves will we surf, what will the conditions be like? The beauty of surfing reef breaks (apart from their unimaginable beauty) is they are a stationary wave. Generally the shape of the wave stays the same and size varies pending conditions. At this time of the year waves are generally anywhere from 1-4ft and we have our choice of breaks that peel left or right. We are always dropped on the flat water behind the break when we arrive by boat, giving you an opportunity to sit behind the waves and take it in before paddling into the lineup. After a nice long ride, paddling back into the line up is much easier than a beach break because you can simply paddle wide, off the reef, and around the back of the break in flat water. Our boat is always nearby if you fancy a rest or a water break.

Can I still surf if I sign up as a cheerleader? Although there won't be space on our chartered boats for additional guests, you are welcome to join a small group or private lesson with the local surf school (at your own cost). The local coaches are fantastic and so very patient! They will assess your level of experience (if any) and take you to an appropriate break for beginners/your skill level.

Can I request to share a room with a friend/s even if I’m surfing and they aren’t? (Or vice versa) Of course! If you know someone on the trip and would like to request to bunk together, simply comment their full name at time of booking and we'll make it happen.

What will the food be like? Seasons Paradise take pride in catering to a wide range of diets. Daily buffets will include a mix of Maldivian cuisine (lots of seafood, rice and coconuts), with a huge range of Western foods and of course endless fresh tropical fruits.

What will the weather be like? The Maldives enjoys a warm, climate often cooled by a refreshing tropical breeze throughout the year. The average air temperature is 30 degrees Celsius with high humidity, and hardly changes. The average water temperature is 28 degrees Celsius. There can be some infrequent light rain from May to November. Rain lasting more than an hour or two is rare. Uv index is high and sun protection is highly recommended, including surf hat, zinc and sunglasses.

Do I have to join the surf trip everyday? No, of course not. Your time is yours to spend as you please. The surfers package includes 8 surfs with rest day in the middle. If you'd prefer do your own thing, you're totally welcome to, but you wont be refunded and will forfeit the cost of any trips you miss.

Will there be phone signal/wifi available? Yes, the hotel has quality wifi available at all times. If you would like to stay connected through the day I would suggest purchasing a local SIM card for $40, unlimited access. ... Or better yet, have a digital detox and immerse completely in island paradise!

Maldivian culture/ customs/ religion/language. Generally Maldivians speak great English thanks to tourism, but the official local language is Dhivehi - an indo-aryan language closely related to the Sinhara language of Sri Lanka. Islam is the state religion, and it significantly shapes daily life and laws of the country. Most female residents dress modestly covering shoulders and knees, alcohol and all drug use is prohibited by law. Once we have arrived at the hotel you are welcome to dress as you please. Swimming in your normal togs is fine in designated tourist areas of the island "Bikini beach". Thulusdhoo is one of the most relaxed islands in the Maldives, but it is still recommended to dress modestly while exploring local areas of the island by covering shoulders and knees. It's a rich, vibrant culture and a safe place to travel. Maldivians are incredibly friendly people who generally love to share their local knowledge with foreigners from around the globe.

Do I need a visa? YES!! And it is your responsibility to ensure you have the appropriate paperwork upon arrival. Most countries residents simply obtain a visa on arrival for the designated number of days they are in the country. Please note that you will need to show proof of your stay while in the Maldives to enter the country. Retreat confirmation will be provided upon booking and will need to be shared with customs upon arrival. You will need to have proof of booked accomodation for every night you intend to stay in the country. It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure visa criteria have been met.
